THE MARTIAL ARTS TEACHER and his knowledge should be at service to the student. It is a fact that, depending on the style, at best only about 50% of what is taught really works on the street. The interesting part is that the techniques that do work are almost universal to all Martial Arts styles.

DIVERSITY - LEARNING TECHNIQUES THAT WORK

To study only one Martial Art is like going to a salad bar and only eating lettuce. Do not get me wrong. I have only respect for all instructors and their styles. When they are presented sincerely, and if an individual wishes to study oriental culture through the pursuit of traditional Martial Arts that is fine by me. But if the purpose of a student of Martial Arts study is to be able to defend oneself, while at the same time pursuing personal growth, you have to incorporate the most effective techniques from a number of styles.

One of the greatest validations to the Master's philosophy is, that at any given time, between 30% to 50% of his students are black belts from other styles that have joined his school to enhance their martial ability and share their knowledge with the school.
